As Bazz said, the dyes used doing this period meant that colours faded over time so you could use them to represent a red cuffed regiment. Red cuffs were the most common colour so there are plenty of regiments to choose from.

Barry, Thanks to you too for your hard work and for promoting the period. Your articles in the various magazines are always a treat to read and very inspriring. I've enjoyed painting the Warfare figures that I've purchased this year and will no doubt be obtaining some more next year too. Merry Chris...
Hi Jeff, I think it's very likely that the Swiss would have followed the tactical doctrine of the army that they were in the pay of. I believe that in this period the colonels of the individual regiments had a say in the tactics that they would have used and adapted them before any official regulati...
Look very nice! do you think they would fit in with the Front rank figs? i already have a collection but would like to add a few of these in to the mix as it were. Well it's a matter of opinion but I think they are fine alongside Front Rank but in their own units. I've got quite a few of the Ebor f...
I'm sure some gentlemen who are far more knowledgable than me will reply but I seem to recall that the Danish Foot Guards did continue to wear a single breasted coat during the WSS period whilst the line regiments changed to the new style coat,

Interesting question Matt. There's no question that finding information out quickly about uniforms, OOB's and such is much quicker and easier now thanks to the internet. I also find it inspiring and useful to see the pics of other peoples painted figures that are so abundant now. I wonder if I'd get...
As far as I know the French grenadiers during this period wore the same hat as the line companies. It was later into the 18th century before they Began to wear the bearskin cap in certain regiments,

I agree that historical wargames figures are well priced. Provided I keep the amount of figures purchased in proportion to the number I can paint in say a month then the figures are affordable for me, although having had no pay rise for three years is starting to bite :( Exchange rates and Customs d...
Ray, When Charles XII came to the throne in 1697 the Swedish regiments in Dutch service as subsidy troops returned to Sweden but a single regiment was retained by the Dutch. The men for this were drawn from all the other units and it was led by Bengt graf von Oxenstierna. This regiment became part o...
Hello Gentlemen,
There were some Swedish regiments in the Dutch army as subsidery troops doing this period. If I recall correctly, by the time of the WSS there was only one regiment still with the Dutch army but during the LOA period, there were more,
Best wishes,
