According to a poem called "The Remembrance or the Progress of Lord Portmore's Regiment", which was in Dutch service from 1701 to 1717 the entire regiment wore caps in stead of hats, and the grenadiers had caps added with ornaments, being a grenade and a cannon. According to an article in Armentaria 15, both types, the miter and fur cap were used up to 1700. A 1690 print of William's dutch pace in het Loo, seems to show a grenadier with a mitre. Gentlefolk, I am going to show my ignorance here and ask what regiments the cavalry could be used for? All the French cavalry I have seen had grey or blue coats. Who would have worn buff?
