Re: All or Nothing Charge

Hi Barry

When I think of charges for the period, I see them conducted as ‘Sqn charges’ or ‘waves of Sqns charges’. Perhaps Leuze and Ramillies are good examples of multiple Sqns charging, pursuing or reforming, and charging again.

BLB4!?

Cheers

‘History of the British Standing Army AD 1660 - 1700’

I found on Google Play Books a great book by Clifford Walton ‘History of the British Standing Army AD 1660 - 1700’. Published in 1884. It includes the founding of the regiments. Campaign Histories including: Tangier, Monmouth’s Rebellion, Ireland, Flanders (great narratives on Stienkirke, Neerwinden...

Re: German & other foreign regiments in Swedish pay

Thanks for the answers.

Would Swedish ‘German’ regiments such as the Bremen Regt and the Pomeranian Regt have been issued pikes?

Thanks

Cheers

German & other foreign regiments in Swedish pay

Would German and other foreign regiments in Swedish pay, such as Saxon POWs and French Horse Grenadiers, been dressed in blue uniforms? Or more like brown or grey uniforms? Would foreign “enlisted” infantry battalions also use pikes?

Thanks

Received my copy from Warfare USA last week after some missed attempts by UPS. The book’s content, pictures and art is awesome.

Garde Suisse detachment in Ireland

Not sure where, but I recall reading in a source/book that when the French forces deployed to Ireland there may have been a detachment of Garde Suisse.

Was there a Swiss Guard detachment?

Could they have been present at the Boyne or first siege of Limerick?

Cheers

Hi

For the English the lobster helmet was probably no longer in use. Not sure about back/front armour.

Re: 5 new Russian cavalry codes in the shop today

Would the different Horse Grenadier companies converged from different regiments have a mixture of fur and double front Mitra’s? Or I wonder if the Colonel’s of these combined Horse Grenadiers would want uniformity as much as possible.

Cheers

French Grenadier Battalion (POWs) in Swedish Service?

Happy New Years Everybody, For Christmas my Wife gave to me 'The Great Northern War Compendium' and interestly in the article on the Swedish Army there is reference to a French Grenadier Battalion. The Battalion was captured at Blenheim and the Grand Alliance transferred the troops to Saxon service....
