Re: What's that on the horizon...Jacobite cavalry!

This cavalry is coming at the right time as several of us are now building for the Irish campaigns! The action of these figures is excellent and I look forward to ordering and painting these!

Hi Barry, Greg Mc. and I have already set up our fist 2nd Ed. game for this Friday. I am not sure if we will have a chance to get in more than one game session before the first of the year due to family commitments for the holidays. However, he and I are searching for windows of opporunity to get in...

Good day, I would say that if these naysayers play at all the only people who will game with them are of the same ilk. I think "socially inadueqate" is a good term. I would bet that these are also the sort of gamers who tie their self worth up in the toys they are gaming with also. Not the sort of p...

Brandenburg

The best information on the Brandenburg army is available from Dan Schoor on CD, check out his great Northern War site. I am sure there is a UK distributor (Baccus maybe?) but I don't remember. It is with out a doubt the most complete study I have seen for this general period. As for the pike issue,...

figures and uniforms

Hi Guys, Just some random notes regarding figures. While this may sound heretical, based upon my own views and correspondence with and articles written by Barry I am not sure that there are that many "line" infantry units that can not be done with figures currently produced or soon to be (Front Rank...

fast play for the fast play rules

Barry, I thought you would get a laugh from the fact that some impatient american types would be trying to make the rules play even faster. The fact that not all of the guys who game with us can make it every month means they forget most of what they learned the last time! We always try to keep the ...

additional Kennesaw Wargamers info

Gentlemen, I thought I would post some random notes on what we have been doing with ULB. Greg posted some photos at our site and they may need some explanation. Years ago we were taking our collections (first SYW then WSS/Grand Alliance) on the road to various shows. We found out that the figures su...

size of units

Hi Barry and Bob (Houston Tx ?, if so we haven't talked in ages !) We actually started all of our units out as 24 and had no problems (truth be told we even had some at 30 for a while!). We have since started building at 18 with older existing units remaining at 24. We too base our figures deeper th...

Artillery ratios

Hi Barry, I am reposting a post that I must have not sent but would have sworn I did, must have deleted it some how. Go figure... We are really enjoying the rules but wanted your imput as to artillery ratios and percentages etc. What works best for you when you game? We are not wanting to "over" art...

Thanks for the update. We are on the fence on some of these issues, we like to think that the Dutch platoon fire system was an improvement over the rank fire. Ignoring how fire control seems to break down in battle it most likely was some sort of improvement. I like to think that the French infantry...

Platoon vs Rank fire

Hi Barry,
A quick question regarding the rules. Do you have any modifiers to show percieved or theoretical differences between platoon fire and rank fire?
Thanks,
Bill

Dear Barry, Thank you for the rules. They look to be everything I had hoped they would be. We are playing them this Saturday at our monthly game. I am very pleased with what I saw and I am sure we will have a great time with them. Will you be posting the rules that you use for capturing enemy flags?...
