Siege game

Anybody already has some experience with playing a siege game? I am planning to build part of a Vauban fortress and add some siege guns and mortars to my army for that purpose.

We have played it quite regularly the past year with version 1 of the rules; which we like as it is real fastplay.

WSS in the Netherlands

I have gathered a collection from several of our past wargames of the War of the Spanish Succession. We play with 6mm figures; keeping with the original 15mm ranges.

Re: Crisis 2011

It was nice to see your table as well as the one from Aldegarde. Strange to see BLB in 28mm, as I am so accustomed to play in 6mm with much bigger armies :D
I am still happy with the BLB1 version.

Re: Cavalry support in inf v. cav melee? (BLB1)

Well, not that bad as I beat off several charges with defensive volleys; now just one Garde francais battalion was laughtered in 3 rounds, and actually only in the 3rd round with 1 casualty and a bad test of a 1 on a D6 with a rereat as utcome of the morale test. Next I was caught in the back.... Ne...

Cavalry support in inf v. cav melee? (BLB1)

Can you actually send in one of your own cavalry squadrons in the rear of an infantry battalion of your troops, which was charged by an enemy squadron and is now in melee?

(I have a photo of the situaion, but don't know how to upload it.)

Re: question

I usualy deploy in 2 lines in checkerboard formation; I leave at least 2 stands between the infantry battalionsin the same line (1st & 2nd). That works well for giving routers/retreaters enough space without interpenetarting and disordering troops. It also gives opportunity to send in reinforcements...

I thus have 20 artillery dice 'available', which I could for example spend on 3 field guns (total of 12 dice) and 3 light guns (total of 6 dice).

Or whatever else sort of composition I think is required on a type of battlefield.

For example my French army had 16 infantry battalions (18 figures each) and 22 cavalry squadrons at the moment (6 figures each). After multiplying (16 x 18 x 35) + (22 x 6 x 35) the net result of actual men on the battlefield was: 14.700. 1.34 x 14.7 (thousand numbers) = 19,698 dice. The number of d...

With regards to the artillery ratio in BLB, we had an ongoing discussion amongst our members of our club who play the ruleset, and I even made a large comparitive investigation into other rulesets similar to the period, such as the "English Civil War" from WAB, or the "1685-1845" set from the Wargam...
