Terrain for demo game at Wargamer show in December

Yes, an 8 x 6 feet terrain layout for a Thirty Years War game using my 28mm figures, plus any I can borrow or steal to boost overall numbers. I have it in mind to paint up a couple of extra command stands for that eventuality, so all those uber-dull ECW figures can fight as Imperialists/ Protties. T...

Re: Nassau-Saarbrucken-Ottweiler flag, 1690

Hi Gary, Did you manage to find any information on the flag for this unit. Also can I ask where did you find the uniform information for them. My web searches told me grey coats and blue facings (from a wargamers site) but I'd rather know where to look for the information. John, Sorry for the delay...

Re: WARGAMERS ANNUAL 2012 Charles Grant

I loved the first two and will get the next and future ones. They make me feel like a kid again back in the seventies (cue dreamy-eyed drifting off into the ether.....), with the Wombles 1975 annual (which I still have [cough]) emerging from its wrapping paper as Bohemian Rhapsody dominated the char...

Re: First blog ever!

Congrats Dave from Morpeth! I started to offload my Luddite status with my own blog on 13th October, but you have come a lot further than me with what you have so far achieved. If anyone fancies a look: http://geez-spot.blogspot.com Just a few random ramblings and stuff at the moment, but the near f...

Re: Brandenburg Uniform Questoin (battle of the boyne)

John, When my sources said "grey", I took this to mean a pale grey, which would be almost white. I used Games Workshop Fortress Grey as a basecoat, washed with the same range's Codex Grey, then a topcoat of Vallejo Silver Grey. This gives a very pale grey which is still distinct from the white of th...

Re: Brandenburg Uniform Questoin (battle of the boyne)

John, My available sources are only secondary, but here is what they say for what it is worth. Grant: Armies and Uniforms of the Marlburian Wars vol 1 page 47:- (inf Regt) No 18 Brandenbourg - grey coat (up to 1702 when changed to indigo blue), blue lining, cuffs, waistcoat and breeches, red cravat ...

Gunter

Vielen Dank!

I left a message in (very poor) German on their guestbook, so hopefully they will understand my query and be able to help.

Thanks again,

Gary

Nassau-Saarbrucken-Ottweiler flag, 1690

Hi all, I am very new to this period and have chosen the War in Ireland as my entry point (I will save my usual Austrian project for later). I am slowly working through various units based around those at the Boyne and have read that the Dutch N-S-O unit was brigaded with the English unit belonging ...

Re: LEAGUE OF AUGSBURG AT DERBY 2nd October

I went to Derby with the express desire to see Walcourt in action and possibly get some info on one particular Dutch flag I am after (Nassau-Saarbrucken-Ottweiler actually) from some of the more learned than I types at the game, but thought you were not there, tucked away as I later discovered you w...
