Re: basing troops

3rd-ed, 4th-ed and 5th-ed. Spray Matt varnish is the Devil's instrument. Vallejo, brushed on is the way to go. And don't be afraid to slap it on.

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690/91

Great link Andy. I just spent 30 minutes reading through some of the text which is packed with interesting and question provoking data. Jan Wyck was a contemporary artist and was in Ireland at the time of the campaigns - that would substantiate to an extent, ANYTHING he painted. On the flip side of...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690/91

Mike, might have missed something in the thread but what is OPW? IIRC? in this context. The data on flag colours is very significant. Where does that originate? The reason I am quite excited about that is that in 20 years+ of reading on the subject I have never seen anyone reference anything, anywh...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690/91

It is not uncommon for descriptions to leave out that kind of detail although they could of course be the same colour as the coat. That's precisely what I was thinking in a - no mention because it's not different enough to mention - kind of way. I think what is useful to note is that our branch of ...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690/91

Andy, I think you're safe on using the cuff colors you like. Every reference I have simple list their uniforms as unknown... This has actually got me thinking. Dangerous I know  . Is it possible that the cuff colours are not mentioned anywhere, because they weren't coloured? Anyway, more to p...

Huguenots in Ireland 1690/91

This should probably be subtitled part 76 or something as I realise it's been done before, but anyway, here we go again  . I'm planning to paint the three infantry battalions over the next few weeks and this is what information I have gathered together so far. Anything further to this would be...

Not the bestest looking figures ever...but at least they have dismounted Dragoons in floppy caps and Grenadiers in tricorns.

Hi, EvilGinger! many thanks for your English lesson. There is always to learn! Congratulations for your nickname! We in Italy, it sounds a bit "funny": Ginger (also in the diminutive form "Gingerino" (small Ginger)) is an aperitif with no alcohol. Then, Evil Ginger sounds like "Ging...

Re: Gardes te Voet

These are some different flags I have used for the Gardes de Voet. These came from the "Wars of Louis Quatorze" blog. I changed some of the interior border line colors to get a slightly different look. I'm certainly no expert on this, but I think it would be highly unlikely just to see William's cy...

Hi Kris, These have been done before... http://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/fightingtalk/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2871 Note the facing colour is orange and I'd agree with Mike (Rebel) your tawny colour would match. Ray. The facing colour is only orange because I went through the exact same process that Kri...
