Re: mixing scales

I don't intend to use the buildings for skirmish games, which I think probably would look odd, but rather with a rules system that represents 20 figures as either a battalion or regiment of infantry. It's interesting to note that there are others that do this and I suppose I just need to bite the bu...

Re: The Boyne @ Broadside 13

It was a good looking game Ray. When are we going to see some photos?

Re: mixing scales

Thanks Dave,

Do you find it allows for a better 'footprint' for a built up area, or improves the overall aesthetics?

mixing scales

Dear All, Having looked at the lovely terrain boards that Bruce Weigle produces and that he seems to successfully mix 1/300 figures onto a 1/4,000 scale terrain, I was considering doing something similar by using my 15mm Franco-Prussian War armies with 10mm buildings. I was wondering if anyone else ...

Re: more BUA questions

.. and now I'm worried... But if I may pose another question. Yesterday the Rejects did a dress rehearsal of the Boyne game that we're doing at Broadside next month. Everything went well. I was particularly pleased at the assaults on Oldbridge. However: 1. can a defender of a BUA be reinforced from ...

Re: more BUA questions

Thanks Barry that's very helpful, and you pre-empted my next question as well.. I didn't realise that 'psychic' is another title that we should add to your list  .

Re: more BUA questions

Just to reiterate the questions that I have: 1. When a unit or units initiate an assault on a BUA and suffers casualties from defensive fire it takes a morale check to charge home. Does the checking unit test using the normal morale modifiers or the ones for assaulting BUAs. The list of reasons in t...

Re: more BUA questions

OR ... it's just occurred to me that maybe all the losing units take the one morale check for losing the melee taking into account the best conditions (eg apply the modifiers for an elite amongst drilled units). I'm sorry.. I seem to be thinking out. I've just answered my own question, page 62 "the...

more BUA questions

I'm still walking myself through the BUA rules in the 'cave'. I couldn't tell you how many times I've played through them!! Anyway, a couple of queries if you please. 1. When a unit or units initiate an assault on a BUA and suffers casualties from defensive fire it takes a morale check to charge hom...

Re: A Gaming Discussion - rules like Maurice

Dear All, I've not played Maurice but I've done a fair amount of reading about it and downloaded the rules and cards as a taster. It seems good enough. But I wonder if the crux of the matter is that we seek different things from rules and from our games. Sometimes as individuals we may desire a chan...

Re: Essex 15mm codes useful for the NYW

I don't know if you'll find it useful, but my friend Ray has painted his allies using 15mm ESSEX figures and he has a blog where he likes to show them off. The link is below.

Good luck with the venture.

Thanks Barry, that does seem to be the logical approach but it's nice to have your clarification.

Re: Essex 15mm codes useful for the NYW

Hello Ginger, If it's the NYW period you looking at then I found the following ESSEX codes useful: Infantry BRO69, 70, 71, 72 that's for standard brim hat, no apostles musketeers BRO72 is the command. BRO73 is laced so good for French guard. (I should say that I've only done the French as my mate is...

BUA and morale checks

My apologies if this question has been fielded before. I've searched but can't find any reference to it on this forum. When a garrison has taken casualties from artillery fire or shooting during a turn (not pre-game bombardment) and has to take a morale check for such, would I be right in assuming t...
