Re: French in Ireland

Those numbers are pretty close to McNally's OOB in his Osprey book. Maybe even the same source? If the numbers pan out to be in the 1000/battalion range I'll probably go with 4-5 stand units for use in either BP/Pike and Shotte or BLB2. I haven't tried the latter out in a game yet and will probably ...

French in Ireland

Though I'm a ways off from doing these units yet, I was wondering how others have or plan to organize their French units fighting for James II. Four are at 1000, one just under and Zurlauben is just over 2000. Large to giganitic singe battalions or multiple battaLion regiments? I havent dug super de...

Re: Pendraken 10mm LOA range

I am really a huge 10mm wargaming proponent. Started in 2007 as I had moved to a location where there were only 4 war gamers locally and to get to the next closest addict required 4.5 hours of travel half of which by boat! I came from an area rife with gamers. We all painted units and they went on t...

Re: Royal Scots - grenadiers?

According to Pat Condray's Wargamer's Introduction to the Age of Marlborough 2nd Edition (1988), P35. He cited Wagner in "Carmine (dark red-probably the same as British crimson for Scottish regiments." for coat colour and "some English and most Scottish grenadiers wore the short mitre with the bag h...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690/91

Well I just got my copies of Galster's Danish Troops in Ireland and Glozier's Huguenot Soldiers of William of Orange and the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and seem to have answered my own question on grenadiers. From these sources it looks as if the Huguenots did field grenadiers in Ireland while the ...

Re: Flags by Quindia Studios

Glad for the reassurance. I have been following league of Augsburg for years and can attribute it to much of my inspiration when I slide into a wargaming slump. Even thought it was a league for a long time not imagining that one guy did all this. I just read an interview or something of the likes wi...

Re: Flags by Quindia Studios

Hi Barry, My personal hope is that you make the decision to finish off the LOA range prior to starting too far down the path into a new area. It seems that it's close. The remaining horse, mounted dragoons/command and the complimentary poses of apostle bearing foot would pretty much give me everythi...

Re: Twelve Apostles

A couple of questions regarding apostles in the 1690's First off does the use of matchlocks automatically mean that apostles were also used by individuals carrying these weapons? Particularly in units where flintlocks seemed to be mixed with matchlocks (as it appears was more common than not in Irel...

Heck Clarence,

Come up with another fast food period specific parody and you guys could release another colonel and regimental standards sheet. Colonel Sander's Regiment of Foot comes to mind.

Just ordered one of these as well. Ordered through ABE Books from Kenny's Books in Ireland. It was already in stock and was only $56.23 USD with free shipping to North America. He still has one left if anyone else is interested.
