Re: Austrian/Bavarian Order of Battle for Mohacs in 1687?

Help me then with the left Wing Infantry (guessing it's the red ones) What are extra units? Where are they from? We know where these are from Lieb Regiment (Bavarian) If you are starting by the Leib-Regiment Leib-Regiment (Bavarian) Latour (3 esqadrons) Serini Bielcke (3 esqadrons) Serini Heissler ...

If the picture is too small: You could also try to access this book on the history of the 2nd Bavarian Infantry Regiment 'Kronprinz'. - There is no copyright any longer but it can't be seen in all countries ... though there are ways to view it. On page 149 and the following ones there is a overview ...

Re: Elector Max Emmanuel

As far as I know there hadn't been any regulations of the uniforms of the higher ranking officers during Max II. Emmanuel's reign - there had been many freedoms in choosing the uniform. Besides the uniform colours of their regiments they often wore - according to contemporary paintings - blue unifor...

Re: Lineage of Bavarian infantry regiments (1680-1700)

Basically you have 7 Regiments mustered and raised in 1682, on June 29th: These are: Berlo, Puech, Degenfeld, Montfort, Perouse, Steinau, Preysing. The lineage of these regiments is a bit confusing. I got a table containing an overview out of the appendix of the Staudinger reference book and though ...

Re: Bavarian Infantry 1690s 1700s

Great I will paint some in grey... Also was the cuffs same as the regimental colour example: lieb regiment would have grey coats with white cuffs or was the cuffs same colour for all company grenadiers? Same colour. Red untill 1698, then blue, also in 1702 when the coat colour changed back to blue....

Re: Bavarian Infantry 1690s 1700s

grenadiers have grey coats with blue trousers Hoffmann pictures blue coats for the Grenadiers all the way till 1727 Yes, but Hoffmann pictures only a Grenadier in the year 1694, then again 1717 (at least in my version) - the grey coats were given out from 1698 till 1702. Then they got again a blue ...

Re: Bavarian Infantry 1690s 1700s

Difficult topic. :) There has been some debate about the colours already in the 19th century and the historical tradition in the archives is fragmentary. :x I am using Karl Staudinger as my mine source. He was colonel and in charge of the Royal War Archive of the Bavarian Army - the following info I...

Re: Army of the Grand Duchy of Wurttemberg 1680-1715???

The early armies of the "estates" of the Holy Roman Empire are always a major problem if you search for information. There had been many reorganisations, mostly resulting in a change of coat colours, etc. The most detailed books on these early armies had been written in the 19th and early 20th centu...

Re: Which faction will YOU do?

I am planning to paint some Bavarians for the late 1680s and early 1690s using Warfare Miniatures. They can be used for the Great Turkish War, the War of the Palatinate Succession (aka the 9 Years War) and for fome fictive skirmishes with imperial cities, bandits and Austrians... One problem...
