1st Carlist War

Just a quick question. Has anyone else done or thought about doing the 1st Carlist War. The reason I ask is that I fancy doing something a little bit different than Napoleonic’s. I thought that it would provide me with a couple of small forces that I could do some of Charles Grants tabletop teasers....

Front Rank the war of the Grand Alliance - 1689 to 1697

Just dropped into the Front Rank Pages and notice that they are going to do a new range
This will go from 1685 to 1700 and will be suitable for the above, the Monmouth Rebellion - 1685 and the Irish Wars - 1689 to 1691.

I feel a dent in the bank account coming on.

Hi If you intend to go for that much then note that Front Rank will give you 15% off an order of £300. If you add to that the discount for the battalion packs it works out at about 20%

That is how we have been working towards our armies round here.

Hi Churchill All the bases I use are 60mm x 80mm. For Rank firing and Artillery it is 60mm frontage 80mm deep And for Platoon firing and Cavalry it is 80mm frontage and 60mm deep. Front rank cavalry are approx 22mm boot to boot. This gives me a gap of about 15mm on the outside edge (see photos) this...

Hi Churchill, does your cousin wargame as well as we always like to welcome new people at our Cheltenham club.

I think that you should have put these figures on the Front Rank site. They are better, more detailed. Nice to see how peoples painting styles change.

Do you do commissions?

Hi. I intend to use the standard WSS figures and remove the foliage in the hats. I noticed it done here.

Wild Geese, Irish in French service

Had a week on holiday with the family and managed to get this unit painted in the process. I decided I wanted this Irish battalion to have a more veteran look to it than the others I have done so went for a random mix of the figures from the Front Rank range. It is Lee’s battalion that became Buckle...

Just had a weeks holiday in Wales and managed to do a Battalion of Irish in French service. Lees Battalion. I will put it in...

Hi most of the flags on the French and Hessians are from the Robert Hall CD's, the rest are from Warflag and the Danish ones from Fahnestock.

Hope that helps.

Well we played our second game at the weekend and this was how we used the order markers. After throwing for the percentage number of units to move we allocated our markers. Move, charge and form markers were allocated from our percentage as were rally markers (we decided that commanders had to deci...
