@MarechalNey I think the problem is not that a period/battle/campaigne is not satisfactory but rather that the literature about the said period/battle/campaigne is not satisfactory. For me, it helps to search for the original sources, also diaries are the most helpful to get the flair of the period....

Thanks for the answers, maybe its true and my question was not that clear so I will try it the other way round. I thought about gaming in the said era under the pretext that I can use a rule set similiar to Warhammer English Civil War/Warhammer Ancient Battles. I know these rulesets are not perfect ...

And what about some pictures? Either from the action itself or from the used collections. Unluckily there are not much pictures in the web on GNW minis. :(

Questions on the Wars between 1700 and 1721

Hello together, I´m just thinking to have a closer look at the period metioned above but before starting I would like to know if it is worth the work. So it would be very helpful if you could answer the following. 1. Were there battles in the WSS of a more modest size? Not the big ones that the well...

I have had enough complaints about the things I have actually changed in BLB from first to second edition! Can imagine that! Also I would give it a try, just thought about using singel models for the units too so they could be represented in actual strength and casulty removel would be more accurat...

Thanks for the answers. Maybe just as a mind game, what if one would use the Movement Point System for the Era of Louis XIV´s? Lets say a brigade remains a brigade (in gaming terms), the Division commander becomes a commander of the center/wings and the Korps commander becomes the C-in-C. What do yo...

Questions on BLB 2

Hello, would be happy if someone could answer me the following questions. I have the R2E rules and would like to know in how far the mechanism of combat groups and Movement Points has been adopted for BLB 2. And in what sizes will the units in BLB 2 be? Both in terms of total number of models and in...

Army size in NYW and WSS

Hello together, I would like to know in which of the two wars the armies (field armies and in total size) where bigger? Was it in the NYW or in the WSS? I always thought it would be the later one but if recall rigth, i.e. John Lynn was of another opinion. Maybe some one can help me with that, especi...

What about the Warhammer English Civil War rules? The tactics did not change that much till the Franco-Dutch War and the rules are perfect for battalion-level games which allows for skirmishers. Also, if I remember correctly, there are some guys in Sweden currentlc using the WECW rules fpr the Scani...

It seems that some deeper research is neded. I will see what I can do, but as I will be away from University till mid-October, it could take a while before I can start with that seriously. Hope you can wait that long.

Having done some research yesterday, I can tell you the following: 1. Forget what I wrote above. 2. There were, according to Hoffmann (Page 3 of "Die Armee des Blauen Königs"), two Regiments of Foot among others, one called Maffei and one called Mercy in 1702, so the units aren´ t identical. 3. The ...
