Bavarian Chevau-Leger Cavalry

I am currently painting the 2 Chevau-Leger regiments (Konig & Leiningen) which were part of Von Wrede's division in 1809 I was happy with the facing colours until I came across Johann Cantler pictures of the 2nd Regiment Konig Chevau-Leger. The picture of the trumpetter is shown with a red jacket an...

Re: White Uniform Regulations (French)

It has taken a while but I found a small mention in the excellent Napoleons Army 1790-1815 by Lucien Rousselot (published by Casement). From Pg30 of the above book "The white coats already issued were worn until they were no longer serviceable and examples of them were seen, especially in Spain for ...

Re: White Uniform Regulations (French)

Thanks for the reply. I had come to the same conclusion. I was thinking in terms of the Austrian campaign 1809 April to July. As you said it seems likely that the white uniforms were still worn. Just need to check if any of the regiments issued with the white uniform took part in the Austrian campai...

White Uniform Regulations (French)

Following Napoleans' second decree of 25 April 1806 that the basic uniform colour was to be white of which there were twenty designated regiments only 13 recieved the new uniforms. Given the short life of the White Uniform (discontinued in May 1807) is anyone aware if any units were still wearing th...

Bavarian Limbers and Caissons

I am currently painting up some Front Rank Artillery but I am now looking for Limbers and Caissons. As FR do not produce the above for Bavarians, would French Limbers/Caissons be of a similar design? Thinking if yes, can use FR/Perry range. I have read that Manson implimented a new artillery based u...

Pre 1812 Russian

In the last couple of weeks I have taken delivery of the Victrix Russians (2 Battalions). Not sure when I will get round to painting them but could not resist them. Do any of you learned gentlemen know if any of the manufactures are proposing to release Pre 1812 Russian Cavalry and artillery? Actual...

Thanks von peter.
Appreciate the response.
I spend a lot of time working abroad and don't have access to most related sites due to the Company filter.

28mm Bavarian troops

Do any of you learned gentleman know how the 28mm Bavarian figures compare between Front Rank and Wargames Foundry?
Also how do they compare to the likes of Victrix figures?

Many thanks in advance
