All the contemporary paintings that I have seen show the Saxon cavalry in hats.

Redoubt ECW are the same size as Bicorne, or I should say the other way around, since Redoubt came first. Most of their figures have separate heads.

i believe that according to the 1708 regulations, every other man in the front rank was to be armed with a pike and a pistol. Thus 1/8 of the men were to have pikes. I think that the refence may be to the French grenadiers in Bavarian service commanded by de la Colonie at the Schellenberg.
