Re: NEWS ON RELEASES*NEWS ON RELEASES

The personalities are among the best I have ever seen in any range. Truly, at it's best, the hobby is trancendimg into the world of art.

When can we expect the guns, extra packs, etc? I live in the States and hopre to be able order some this month.

Re: Front Rank WSS figures - can I get away with this?

You could, but the WSS figures would all be incorrect for the WAS. Austrian and Prussian uniforms were essentially (with some minor differences) the same as worn in the SYW. They are quite different from those of the WSS, the most noticeable differences being the additions of lapels and turnbacks. M...

Re: Russian uniforms at Narva (November 1700)

Höglund gives a number of regiments supposedly at Narva that were raised in 1700 as having "coats" in that year. The two guard regiments and Butyriski (Gordon till 1705) and Lefort are given as having caftans and caps with fur linings in 1698. Tje Guards and Butyriski/Gordon have descriptions of Wes...

Re: Common mistake on illustration of Danish flags

My daughter says she ordered me copy of In Hoc Signo Vinces for Christmas. Don't know if from the Armenmuseum or Caliver, however. I'm excited to see it.

Re: Common mistake on illustration of Danish flags

Thanks Mats, There are 207 Danish flags, many of which are fragments, mostly from the Scanian War. http://www.digitaltmuseum.se/search?q=Dansk+fana&also_without_pictures=0&items_per_page=15&start=196 Of course the colors have faded over the years, but the Sjaelandske, Jydske and Fynske flags probabl...

Re: Common mistake on illustration of Danish flags

The C5 surmounted by a crown is what was used on Danish flags of the period. Quindia, I will be sending you some info, but I won't be able to scan it until after Thanksgiving

Re: Common mistake on illustration of Danish flags

Quindia, I sent you a pm. I can send you a bunch of stuff. Basically, you can use the flags shown in the Scanian War article on Dan Schorr's Northern Wars, if you can find it on the Wayback Machine as a start. Some of the flags shown in the Hoglund book on the GNW are Danish flags from C5's period. ...

Re: Common mistake on illustration of Danish flags

Also, if you see flags with a blue ribbon and an elephant hanging from it, the flag will be after 1693, because the Order of the Elephant, which it represents was not founded until that year.

Re: New ebor WSS mounted officer and dolly size comparison

Just received my first order. In a word, "excellent." I love my FR figures, but if I were starting over, this is the way I would go. They are much less "chunky" than FR, more in the Perry style. The only figures I have with me to compare with are Warfare. They are slightly larger than Warfare, but t...

Lund, 1676. Because I already have all the units (it was a small battle) in 28mm, so I don't need to buy any more.

Re: Grenadiers à Cheval de la Garde

The Grenadiers were not part of the Gendarmerie. The Gendarmes were a separate unit from the Maison du Roi, ( although there were Gendarmes de Maison du Roi as well). The Gendarmerie was often brigades with the Maison, but was separate in Italy in the early campaigns and at Blenheim. The Grenadiers ...

The Osprey book shows grenadiers with bearskin caps. Does anyone have any info as to whether that is correct?
