Re: Russian GNW Standards

You might want to check out this blog: http://rusmilhist.blogspot.com/search/label/Colors%20and%20Standards It is a Russian site, but most of the pages are in English. The author is somewhat of an expert on Russian colours of the period. There is an email address you can use to ask him additional qu...

Re: Where is WARFARE range going next?

I too have considered using the "apostle equipped" infantry for the Scanian War which was concurrent with the Dutch War; however, depending on how much of a purist you are, the figures are not quite right. There should be no plug bayonet, no or very few waistbelts, and no kamisol or vest. These all ...

Re: Norwegian Coat Colours

Thanks Clibinarium. I'm amazed that there is anyone interested in the Norwegian army of the period. A word of caution, on a number of the plates the blue has a purplish tinge. This should be plain blue. I apologize. I am not certain why this occured. If anyone has any specific questions, they can dr...

Re: WSS Saxon flags

The Saxon information available from the archive.org site is out of date. I have a updated pdf file that was on my site for a number of years before I took the site down that includes information and plates of colours and standards. If anyone wants a copy they can email me at dan(at)northernwars(dot...

Re: Dutch and German flags sources?

Dunno about the copyright issues, but I don't think scanning the plates and putting them on the Internet as a resource would deprive anyone of their livelihood or force their families into abject poverty Jeam Belaubre is still alive and his ownership of HIS work (copyright) is still intact. I belie...

Re: Cadogan's Horse

It is with a great deal of apprehension that I enter the minefield of this thread. Let me assure you that I have no dog in this fight. I am not privy to Farmer, so I do not know what, if any, sources he cites for his statement that the regiment had buff facings through 1717. I do, however, have Ceci...

Re: Simple soldier's equipment ...Army equipment 1700-1720

The Swedes provided one cavalry regiment to the Netherlands 1694-98. The Colonel was Kjell Christoffel von Barnekow. It consisted of 6 companies each of 76 men. Raised primarily from excess personnel from the Pommerska kavalleriregementet and the Bremiska Kavalleriregementet. Initially, 6 infantry r...

Go with Hall. A Royal Order dated 28 February 1699 changed the coat to red faced yellow for the Livregiment. Prior to that time the coat was grey faced red. Sapherson's information on the Danes is questionable.

Adrian, There are no illustrations of these two regiments that I know of. Aufschläge is indeed cuffs, but could also mean facing colours which would include the coat lining. I'm afraid that none of the material that I have mentions the facing colours for these units. I am curious about the source of...

Tallardless,

Could you provide the name of the C-P Golberg document from which you got the material? Also, it would be helpful if you could provide the words in German. I don't think surcharges is a correct uniform translation.

Thanks,

Dan

Clan, I believe I can help with the Degenfelt Danish Regiment. The only Danish regiment with that name existed 1674-76. Following the Battle of Lund (Dec 1676) the remains of the unit were incorporated in the Kongens Livregiment. I have no idea as to the source of the Parkfield flags, nor do I know ...

Hall is correct. This is supported by Belaubre and Dr F.G.de Wilde, and August Kühn.

I believe the Golberg plate is mislabelled. The Wagner plate done bz Golberg indicates red facings.

Hope this helps.

Correct; although the grey was very light in colour and could be misinterperted to be white.
