Re: Hay's Dragoon's @ Blenheim

Cheers,

Ray.
I was reading about that recently, it said that the Le Roi regiment was retiring to collect its knapsacks when they were charged, :)

Not sure what you've read already but Faulkners Great and Glorious days is a good read and Duffy's Malborough as a military commander.

Doing the cuirassiers in tricornes too is a good idea. Have you considered doing the recently released cavalry in tricornes too?

Re: musicians' livery for French royal regiments

Hi Footslogger, I believe the answer is yes. I'll check for the Royal Italian regiment later to make sure,
Best wishes,

Re: New Swiss Pikemen for North Star 1672

Will there be command packs for the French dragoons and the dragoons in fur caps too soon? These are really nice figures and whilst not maybe totally correct, I've been using some in my WSS armies.

Re: New Ebor WSS greens by Paul Hicks

Anyone know if the old Tercio regiments fought in Flanders and are these figures suitable for the later uniform? Thanks, simon

Re: Frankenstein's Monster - AoN Charge

The rules do say on page 5 that a 6 cavalry unit is a squadron but then go on to say that the model to man ratio is 1:40. On page 8 though Barry explains that a gaming squadron numerically represents two real life squadrons so squadrons are acting in concert at all times and never individually. In t...

Re: Hay's Dragoon's @ Blenheim

Thanks Ray.

If you're using a 6 figure tabletop squadron for each real squadron then doing two would make the regiment more flexible. At Ramillies they did deploy with both squadrons present,

Rob,
That would be a good way too but the problem is finding that kind of detail for individual regiments,

Re: Hay's Dragoon's @ Blenheim

Hi Ray,
Where did the figures come from? The numbers for Hay's dragoons look like a mistake to me. I'd do them as a 6 figure unit,
Best wishes,

Re: Frankenstein's Monster - AoN Charge

Interesting discussion. I must admit I get a bit confused about the whole cavalry organisation in BLB. This is how I see it. Most cavalry regiments fielded 2 squadrons, I know there are exceptions like the big Austrian regiments, some elite French regiments and the household troops. As Barry has sai...

Re: Identifying raw status regiments in the WSS

Hi Ray, Many thanks for your reply. I've rekindled my interest in the WSS and have returned to visiting the forum. Interestingly, following the peace of Ryswyck a large part of the army was disbanded only for a load of new regiments to be raised again when the WSS started. The ones raised in 1702 ar...

Identifying raw status regiments in the WSS

Hello there, I'm putting together French and Allied armies for the WSS. Not working with any particular OOB but looking more towards the early part of the war rather than later, so Blenheim and Ramillies are the two I've been looking at mostly. What I'm after is ideas for which units would be classe...
