Re: North Star 1672 & Phoenix Miniatures

Nuno,

A couple of musketeer figures with boar spear (schweinfeder) would also be nice. The Brandenburg Army used them, and others as well.

Re: New guy with a question

Information on Saxon colours and standards pre-1697 is extremely difficult to come by. Hottenroth (Geschichte der sächsischen Fahnen und Standarten) provides this: “Each company carried a standard or a colour whose field was in the facing color of the coat. These colours and standards were of the ty...

Re: 15mm GNW, Scanian War flags

Roger, you might want to have a look at http://www.mts.net/~homenic1/vaubanner/vaubandex.html . He has a nice selection of 15mm GNW Swedish and Russian flags.

Re: OOB for French Forces at Landen/Neerwinden?

Graf, To address your points: 1. I concur that each flag represents a squadron. 2. 12-14 – 12 is a one squadron regiment and the other two are two squadron units. The number 14 seems to have been placed to far to the right. 3. You are correct. There are two, too many battalions represented in row 31...

Re: OOB for French Forces at Landen/Neerwinden?

Here is my take in identifying the units from D’Auvergne’s plan. I would be interested in others’ thoughts. 1 Betincours Betancourt (Spanish(Walloon) Horse) Main Army 2 Don de Augustins Juan Augustin (Spanish Horse) Main Army 3 Brinicks Brennicke (Celle Horse) Main Army 4 Pr. Philips (Brandenburg Ho...

Re: OOB for French Forces at Landen/Neerwinden?

Graf Bretlach, you might already have this information, but the units with the Duke of Würtemberg’s Corps were detached from the Main Army on 1/11 July 1693 and were not present at Neerwinden. Duke of Würtemberg’s Corps (13 battalions and 24 squadrons) July 1693 Infantry – 13 battalions Garden (Dani...

Graf Bretlach,

I'd be happy to try to help with the Spanish units. PM me your questions.

Re: Battle of Staffarda

I apologize for coming late to this party. I asked a friend in Italy, GianCarlo Boeri, if he had any information on the composition of the Savoyard-Spanish Army at Staffarda, and he provided the following: Spanish Army at Staffarda 1690 OdB Spanish Infantry: Tercios de Lombardia, Savoya, Mar de Napo...

Re: Hesse-Kassel Regiments @ Blenheim 1704

Ray,

Once again, page 68. The Leibfahne captured in 1689. Others are probably battalion colours. The 1706 date is the date of capture, not the date the colours were made.

Re: Hesse-Kassel Regiments @ Blenheim 1704

Ray, In my opinion, you should go with Hall. On page 66, footnote 147, and Page 67, footnotes 148, 149 and 150 he provides lists of clothing purchases for the regiment. These were taken from the Hessisches Staatsarkiv in Marburg, and all of these mention “rottuch” or red cloth. Also the Gerpines Lis...

Re: Regiment Bois D'avid, Luneburg-Zell

First, additional information on the uniform of Celle Regiment Boisdavid/de Luc. Golberg and Kühn relied on Sichart for the the white(light grey) coat faced green. Sichart indicates that the regiment had this uniform beginning in 1680. His next entry indicates a red coat first in 1706. Other sources...

Well done Maciek! The five volumes in two and what appears to be all of the maps and plans, including the OBs and battle maps. The best part is that the latter are colour coded for better clarity. Highly recommended.

Re: Regiment Bois D'avid, Luneburg-Zell

Ray, I’ve checked George Tessin’s “Die Regimenter der Europäischen Staaten im Ancien Regime des XVI. Bis XVIII Jahrhundrets” Teil 1 Die Stammlisten. In 1679 the Ohr zu Fuß Regiment (Hanover) was raised. It eventually became the Garde Regt in 1690 as I reported earlier. There is no listing for a corr...
