Re: WSS - Austrians

Hello, lenin. The flags by Maverick listed in the WSS Austrian section are the ones you want (as I arranged for Stuart to make them  ), and are as described by Dan Schorr and illustrated in the Robert Hall & GioanCarlo Boeri book on the Austrian Army published through the Pike & Shot Society. ...

Re: Eureka Miniatures Arquebussiers de Grassin

My Dear Duke, That is good news indeed! I shall drop Nic a line, even though I have subscribed originally. Do you have any of the foot? They are very tasty and just scream out for a "Charles Grant sized unit"! :D (or Black Powder I guess  ). His Saxons are worth a look too, especially the Chev...

Gidday, Nevermore!
Just love your Club web page.Great battles, great figures. I am especially a fan of your downloadable flags, and wonder if you could get your draughtsman to do up WSS Austrian Imperial flags as you have done for the 30 Years War? Cheers, Rohan - Eumundi, Australia :D

Re: "Danish Troops in the Williamite Army in Ireland, 1689-9

Where are these available? I've only seen the handful of plates in McNally's books... I would certainly be interested in getting the full sets...
Me, too! And I'm sure I probably speak for a lot of others on this forum! :D

Cheers, Rohan.

Re: "Danish Troops in the Williamite Army in Ireland, 1689-9

Sorry, Clarence. No mention of Cuirassiers at all in the book. There are extensive contemporary quotes in the book, and cuirasses don't feature. So I'm afraid it appears that either all horse of the period wore armour and so not mentioned as remarkable, or, more likely, none did. As far as uniforms ...

Re: "Danish Troops in the Williamite Army in Ireland, 1689-9

I'll mention it to him next time we speak. Mike. Thanks, Mike. I had a charming letter yesterday from Dr Galster after Four Courts Press passed on my letter of appreciation (& hopes for further BLB era works from his pen :) ). His next work will apparently be on Napoleon's Danish Auxiliary Corps. C...

Re: WARFARE PRIVATE COMMISSIONS - WHAT INTERESTS YOU?

Hello Barry, I wonder if you would consider weapon packs? Initially I would like to buy additional swords in scabbards (those already sculpted) to use in conversions. Then later perhaps stands of matchlocks & muskets, and even individual pieces of the same. Another suggestion for a "set" - an armour...

Re: "Danish Troops in the Williamite Army in Ireland, 1689-9

Happy reading, Michael. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. So much in fact, that I fervently hope the author will do a followup volume with the continuing saga of Württemberg's Danish contingent in Flanders during the Nine Years War. If done with the same breadth & depth as this volume, it would be...

Re: "Danish Troops in the Williamite Army in Ireland, 1689-9

Hello, Michael! I can second Rebel's comments - this book is excellent. I purchased mine from Book Depository in UK (best prices with postage to Australia, usually). The author is a recently retired Danish Army officer where his final job was as a senior researcher for the Royal Danish Def...

Re: Small action rules from Clarence and Barry

I certainly would be very interested in these, Barry. Such a set would add the "petit guerre" aspect of the era as well as the variants you mention, and allow some of the excellent variety of miniatures from Warfare, Ebor, etc to be used to advantage. So I could use a grenadier company to take a bri...

Re: Blenheim OOB

I've heard the Olaf van Nimwegen is helping out some with the new Robert Hall book on the Dutch army.
Tell me more!! :o :D

Is this likely to be similar to the previously published uniform books by Robert Hall & others?

Cheers, Rohan.

They are gorgeous. Nick kindly asked me to do the flags for them as well. Can't wait to paint some of them up :D I hope you will "share" those flags with the rest of us, Iain, by putting them on your site. :D I would really like to see some Spanish flags for the Spanish troops in the Low Cou...

Re: Where is WARFARE range going next?

Hello, Barry.

I wouldn't mind some Danes with double buttoned coats and also in Cassocks. The floppy hats could be turned up in various ways too.

I'm looking forward to the apostle musketeers to add to the various Irish regiments for the Boyne.

Cheers, Rohan

Hello again, Theo & others! I am happy to report that the Pike & Shot Society Sales problems seem to have been resolved & I have just received an order of books & Hall Plates from them. The Hall plates are GBP2 for P&SS members and GBP3 for non-members. They also carry the Robert Hall books at compe...

Re: Cuirassiers du Roi

Hi, Theo. I think that by the time of the WSS most French Horse (as indeed many others) went without the cuirass - too heavy & offered very little added protection to sword cuts & practically nil to musket or pistol shot. Officers and perhaps some troopers (as Maciek says) still used them at times, ...
