Hi guys,
It would seem that Perry miniatures are to release 28MM ACW figure in hard plastic. I believe that there will be an infantry box containing 36 marching and firing line poses plus command and a 12 figure cavalry box, and are set to retail at £12 a throw. They are due out in March next year and will run alongside a new metal ACW range.
Even though I am very much a metal figures kind of bloke I think this could be good move for the hobby as a whole taking into account continual hikes in the price of metal which will make it difficult for those of us on lower incomes to build up armies in 28mm.
I am looking forward to see where this leads. I will continue to by metal figures as I prefer them to the plastic ones I have used in the past so I will still be adding to the lead mountain in my loft but, I think for fleshing out large projects or indeed starting new ones cheaply without compromising on quality sculpts this could be a great way to go.
It may not get much further than this initial release and other companies may or may not join in but the possibilities are endless Napoleonics, Ancients and what about WW2 platoon boxes for rules like DH and IABSM.
Cheers Paul.
