Winsor & newton series 7, not cheap but if you look after them they will last a very long time

Games Workshop's newest range of brushes are very nice - pricy again, but I've had the same set for a year now and they have held up very well.

Any Sable brush for general painting work Squirrel hair for undercoating & varnishing & the occasional nylon for fine detail line work.

I use daVinci Nova synthetics. You can get them from well sorted Artsuppliers or Berliner Zinnfiguren:

Btw., when reading what brushes the others are using to paint their splendid looking Miniatures I think I know why my self-painted Figures dont look so well  :D
„Macht Euch Euren Dregg alleene“

"Sort your filth out by yourself!" The King of Saxony Friedrich August III., at his abdication 1918, referred to the quarrels in the parliament and the squabbling within the provisional government.

Series 33 from Rosemary and Co: http://www.rosemaryandco.com/pure-kolin ... eries%2033

Personally I have two sets each comprising a 2/0, 0, 1 & 2 and I have done hundreds of figures with my set with no appreciable diminishing of the brushes.

That's just the 28mm stuff, I'm not even going to start on the other scales.

Scrivs is certainly right in recommending these brushes. Every bit as good as W&N Series 7 and much cheaper to boot!

Thank you all for your recommendations.

I ordered brushes from Rosemary and Co. I can confirm they are excellent brushes and the service was first class. Ordered one day delivered the next.
