Front rank and elite or foundry?

Hi Gents

Am slowly raising my Nap armies which are based around the beautiful front rank figs. Am looking for just a bit more variation in the poses of the figures and looking for views as to how well elite or foundry mix with them?

Cheers

Phil

Not at all I would say. Neither the height nor the anatomy lends itself to mixing these ranges. Foundry much smaller and more rigid posing than Elite. FR stiffer than both in anatomy and taller. Wouldn't matter as distinct units on same table but not in the same unit in my view.

Are not Front Rank introducing variety packs for their Napoleonics?

Phil,
Have had a look at the Calpe range of Napoleonics? They do a very nice range of Prussians, French and Saxons. Should fit in well with the Front Rank figures as they're big figures,
Best wishes,
Simon

Just to give you an idea as to the difference in size between Front Rank & Foundry:

Image

Left is Front Rank, right is Foundry. I probably need to do something about it, but we're used to the Bavarian giant and his pygmy escort by now :)

The thing to remember is that we are all different sizes, that could be Gunter and Barry based together
personally I don't mind the size difference.

mixing different sized models of the same scale together from different manufacturers only becomes a problem in periods when standard sized equipment is widely used, & this varies in size noticeably from figure to figure.

This is more noticeable if the figures are in close proximity on the same base of in the same unit.

As I have said else where most wargamers have physiques for radio & defiantly should not be shown in photographs in any sort of public forum stick to the figures chaps.

I would say that you can mix FR, Perry and Calpe without problems.

Have a look on my two Napoleonic blogs for examples:

It would seem that FR has enough variety of poses within its range to meet your needs. I use a variety of figure ranges but I don't mix different brands in one battalion unless one brand is missing basic command figures.

Most of my figures are Elite Miniatures, but I also use Connoisseur in their own battalions and they look fine alongside the Elites. I also use some Front Rank cavalry and limber teams and personality figures. Probably Calpe is the only range that is somewhat close in overall appearance with FR.
