Forgive me if I have missed that this has already been observed on elsewhere. The BBC is to put on a drama series in June on 'Versailles'. It may serve to inspire, even if not militarily, certainly in terms of decadent and 'nocturnal' behaviour.

Good point ,well made , and Star Wars has a distinct lack of lavatorial scenes. If a Death Star rocked up next to my planet, id naturally want to grip some Armitage Shanks!

Never thought I would say this. Too many t*ts and bums . Certainly way too much cross dressing. Actually ok when they go outside of the court but there are some real crackers. Apparently Louis couldn't raise a couple of hundred men to guard the road to Versailles because EVERY soldier is at the front . Also i have tried to place a bet at the bookies that Louis wont be assassinated in 1670 . No go .
Must be getting old .

To me the interesting thing is around 1,000 people died building Versailles. And that apparently the Venetians sent assassins to kill the Venetian craftsmen who had been lured away to make the mirrors for Versailles.
