Useful Sources

Post by Glorfindel » Fri Apr 14, 2017 9:08 am

I've recently come across some a couple of sources that might be of interest.

Firstly, the following link downloads "FORGING A COALITION ARMY:
WILLIAM III, THE GRAND ALLIANCE, AND THE CONFEDERATE ARMY IN THE SPANISH NETHERLANDS, 1688-1697", a Dissertation by John Stapleton, Ohio State University (2003).

The Dissertation confirms that it "explores the origins and creation of the
allied army that fought in the Spanish Netherlands during the Nine Years’
War".

I found the above listed as a source by Wienand Drenth in "A Regimental list of the reduced officers for the year 1699", which is chock full of useful information in its own right.

The above Dissertations made me wonder what else was out there of a similar nature - sure enough there are sites which link to a whole host of other Dissertations with a military subject. Quite a resource. eg.

The second resource I stumbled across is the University of St Andrews, Institute of Scottish Historical Research.

You do have to create an account (which is free) but then have access to a stack of info, including a fantastic record search.

There are probably heaps of other worthy sources out there...

Cheers,

Phil
