Hi There,
Long time lurker (years in fact) here :)

Just a quick query, but I'm looking to re-start a long dormant ACW project and like the idea of an ACW R2E version.
Before I do lots, I was wondering what the recommened basing conventions will be for 28mm figures? I assume similar to R2E, but perhaps leaning towards 20mm frontage per figure?

I was wondering you (Barry) might be using for your new figures which are starting to appear in the ACW gallery?

Hi Keith,
my good left wing commander(of the first day) :D

MY efforts toward ACW are to be done with much enthusiasm as I am a 'Long time Lurker' myself
It seems suitable if 'we" base them like in RtE. But having in mind how different the size of the "Regiments" could be it is in my case that I do them after a battle order.
I start with a Brigade of Longstreets Division in the Peninsular War

Confederate Army of Northern Virginia 30 April 1862:

Center Position:
Major General James Longstreet
Hill's Brigade: Brigadier General A.P.Hill
1st Virginia Infantry Regiment (400)
7th Virginia Infantry Regiment (700)
11th Virginia Infantry Regiment (750)
17th Virginia Infantry Regiment (600)
Roger's Battery (62)
Anderson's Brigade: Brigadier General R.H.Anderson
4th South Carolina Infantry Regiment (450)
5th South Carolina Infantry Regiment (650)
6th South Carolina Infantry Regiment (550)
9th South Carolina Infantry Regiment (450)
Stribling's Battery (68)
Colston's Brigade: Brigadier General R.E.Colston
3rd Virginia Infantry Regiment (550)
10th North Carolina Infantry Regiment (575)
14th North Carolina Infantry Regiment (625)
Pickett's Brigade: Brigadier General G.E. Pickett
8th Virginia Infantry Regiment (450)
18th Virginia Infantry Regiment (700)
19th Virginia Infantry Regiment (650)
28th Virginia Infantry Regiment (600)
Dearing's Battery
Wilcox's Brigade: Brigadier General C.M.Wilcox
8th Alabama Infantry Regiment (550) ??
9th Alabama Infantry Regiment (550)
10th Alabama Infantry Regiment (656)
20th Mississippi Infantry Regiment (800)
Standard's Battery (60)
Pryor's Brigade: Colonel J.A.Winston
8th Alabama Infantry Regiment (800) ??
14th Alabama Infantry Regiment (700)
14th Louisiana Infantry Regiment (750)
Macon's Battery (60)

Figures are from Steve Barber, 1st Brigade and Battery allready with my painter

I have used differetn bases than normal for my growing ACW collection. 60 frontage 40 deep. 5- 7 models per base to get the linear straggly look. I will share some photos this weekend as I am home for 10 whole days and hope to get some wargaming - into my raddled carcass

Great - thanks for the update. it would be great to see how the project is progressing.

I'm very keen to get a 'straggly' line look to my units, very Troiani.
