Hi. The uniforms of the Imperial Guard underwent various changes between 1854-1860. As far as the Crimean War is concerned, the main characteristic is that both the Grenadiers and Voltigeurs wore BLUE trousers, not red. Apparently Napoleon thought they looked a bit plain compared to the troops of the Line during the victory parade through Paris, and red trousers were subsequently issued. This is what was worn in Italy in 1859. The following year, the tunics were changed and included the lace bars across the chest, as shown in plate 59. This was the uniform worn in 1870. Plate 56 shows the changes to the tunic between 1854 and 1860. Hope this helps.

I don't normally hold with helping Lancastrians, but it may interest you to know that God is indeed a resident of Yorkshire; in fact he lives just around the corner from me!

Cheers.

Steve

Sorry for the delay in replying, I would like to point out that recent evidence (floods, landslides, guided busways) would lead to the conclusion that God is busy elsewhere this. However there is a blue plaque in Leigh Lancs ,that confirms he's birth in a mid terrace off Railway road............not Yorkshire.
