Any recommendations for good sources on numbers of troops in infantry regiments?

Thanks. Paul.

Hi Paul,
Depends mostly on what Battle OOB you have in mind.
For my suuuuuuuuper tiny...Corps....I used different sources, mostly books:

"From Manassas to Appomatox" James Longstreet
"Gray Fox" Burke Davis
"Memoirs of Robert E. Lee" A.L.Long
to name a few.

Also, if you have made up your mind you can visit various websites of the ACW National Park Service as most of them have very extensive Army Lists on their Websites.
Like this here
https://www.nps.gov/frsp/learn/historyc ... -corps.htm
or

Hope that helps a bit

Paul, do you have any particular regiments , battles or campaigns in mind.
To give you an idea of how in depth you can go ,North Carolina has just published a 19!! volume set on individual unit strength and history for the entire war . a snip at $960.

Morning Jim,

I would love the Carolina volumes....but maybe at a later date.

I'm looking at 1861-63. The majority of units are New York, with Irish connections, plus Marsena Patrick's(Distant relative)New York Brigade at Antietam.

Others include 9/28/29 Mass. 69/116 Penn. 23/90 Illinois. 35 Indiana. 17 Wisconsin. 9 Conn.

On the Confederate side; all the Louisiana brigades plus 10th Tennessee.

I've got a lot of detail but always looking for more on muster strengths.

Cheers. Paul
