Now delayed until April 15th - albeit reduced to £17.95 (from £19.95).

Hoping to collect a copy from Caliver at Salute the following week.

Many thanks for the update - definitely one for next month. I do find the shift in release dates frustrating but the books are normally worth the wait.

Looking at both the 'Century of the Soldier' and the 'Reason to Revolution' series, there are so many books of interest. Need to sell a kidney to afford them all and build a library extension to store them in...

I had been looking forward to this, but an early (anonymous, which can sometimes be suspicious, but not always) review* states that the author has written very little that is specifically about the Bavarian army itself but the text is full largely of generalities covering all armies of the period, whilst he does cite several sources in his bibliography that could have provided such data, but are in German.

Has anyone bought it and found it valuable?

Started reading the book last night some interesting descriptions of captured standards in the book.

I would refer to Pieter Snayer's painting of the Battle of White Mountain (images from it are here), at which (I think?) he was personally present. Bavarians seem to be wearing Spanish style tabard cassacks (some dark blue), while officers wear buff coats with dark blue (almost sea blue) sashes. This specific picture is supposed to Bavarian and Imperial Reinforcements fighting at the Battle of White Mountain. There is also a closeup video animation of part of the painting here. However the balagan wargaming website says Imperialists and Bavarians at the battle wore white sashes. It says that the Imperialist and Bavarian sashes were white until 1631, when they changed to red, which makes me wonder a bit about whether Snayer was at the battle.
