The Cause of Liberty

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

The Cause of Liberty

I have jumped into a new period with both feet... The American War of Independence. A few weeks ago I ordered several hundred Perry models and the four sturdy lads above are the first of a militia horde.

As usual, my adventures will be detailed on my blog, but I'll continue to post the occasional progress shot here as well!

These look very nice Clarence and remember you did pick up a booklet on small battles of the AWI as a starter guide. Like yourself I prefer the AWI or 1812 war to the ACW I just think they are more colourful. Perhaps I can persuade a certain Mr Hilton to dip into the AWI, he's had all my reference materials long enough so he must be interested. :D

You may call it sarcasm........I, on the other hand, prefer to refer to it as a humorous observation!!! :-)

Clarence,

These are very nice and will look even better when they can afford uniforms. I always did say that those scruffy colonials were wont to detract from the overall tone of the battle. 8)

These are looking very nice Clarence!
I've already got some in hunting shirts painted for my 1812 Americans but I have quite a few Continentals still to paint up at some point in the future .....after, Napoleonic Russians, Poles, Saxons and French. Oh and about a dozen other different periods.

Fine Brush work,I suppose they could be used as loyal subjects in a miltia unit? plus one or two of them look Canadian!

Clarence, love the flag you've created on your blog, the next thing you will find is that someone posts it on some other site claiming it's an 'official' American flag.

Tried posting a comment on your blog and despite being a follower it refuses to put them up so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? Probably something to do with being thick and getting on a bit and not good with new technology
I have the same problem with Dave I's site as well but at least it allows me to post as annonymous but I don't even get that choice with yours.
Cheers
Dave
