28mm New Kingdom Egyptians from Flashing Blade

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

28mm New Kingdom Egyptians from Flashing Blade

Post by big-gazza » Mon Dec 08, 2008 10:03 pm

Hi,
heres a 28mm New Kingdom Egyptian command group from Flashing Blade. Figures are based for display and the pics are a bit darker than usual or the shield disapears into the background.

First time painting Egyptians and I had some trouble with the skin tone but I got there in the end. Also A success for the Army Painter Matt Varnish.

Nice job. Haven't seen those figures before, very characterful. Is the varnish one with a wash in it or just to seal the paintjob? I like the effect you have got on the metallics but should the swordblade be bronze in this period?

Hi,
the varnish was the Anti-shine spray. Had some bother the first time I used it but worked a treat this time.

As for the sword, you could be right. Not my period, more use to MG-42s and T-34s. I'm sure the customer will let me know if its right.
