28mm 95th Rifles (pic heavy)

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

28mm 95th Rifles (pic heavy)

Post by big-gazza » Fri Jun 12, 2009 12:27 am

Hi,
heres my latest work.

A unit of 38 Riflemen from the 95th rifles. Figures are 28mm and are from Foundry ,Companion Miniatures and Front Rank.

Based on 8 2" by 2" bases and 6 single figures.

Also a bit of an experiment with lighting and camera settings.

First time I've done a Naps unit so big and I've learned a few lessons for the future. So heres the pics. Sorry about the width on the first two but I wanted a group pic with and with out skirmishers.

Very nice Gary! Good to see you are moving further and further from the Dark Side 8)

Where did you get the 95s?? Either your hand was clamped in a vice at the time of painting or it's a decal

Hi,
thanks. Alas they are transfers. Have a look at

http://www.albanminiatures.com/index.php

The transfer sheet has numbering for the 95th and 60th rifles.

Really nice work. Did you have a favourite out of the different manufacturers?

Hi,
the figures were all supplied loose by the customer so I have no idea what was what.

I did like the Tom Plunket figure the most. The sergeants were also good to paint.

Whooo that is a lot of miniatures.... really nice unit that one, but with a unit that big you would need my whole basement to get a good game! Well executed Gazza. I like the way you paint the faces and hands they look very real.

I particularly like the faces. Excellent work.
