First Naps for a long time

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

First Naps for a long time

The first Napoleonics I've painted in a long time. In fact these are the first 28's I've painted in a long time due to work, family and family illness.
I got these unfinished figures from my mate Hugh's collection when he sadly passed away recently and decided to finish them off and base them up. I guess I'll be doing a Prussian force again?
Cheers

Lovely work Dave!
And you still have those nice styled bases! Well done.

Thanks GUNTER! It's good to get back to some painting.
So sorry to hear you're having to sell off your Russians, hopefully they'll go to a good home where they will be appreciated.
Cheers

They look good Dave, sure Hugh would be pleased that they're going to see action, eventually, with our record of gaming lately

Prussian reinforcements have arrived! After a period of more than two years due to various reasons this has been the longest sustained period of painting to add more troops to the cavalry I got from Hugh. There are a mixture of Perry, Foundry and Warlord in the force.

Loveley styled Movment trays. I saw those kind somewhere before..?
Warbases?

Btw., Barry, I think he uses the same type of magnifying glass you are using, just less intense

Thanks for all the comments chaps, even Barry.
It's been good to get my mojo back again and I'm looking forward to painting more.

Unfortunately all the guys I game with in Edinburgh use Black Powder so I'm looking forward to more R2E games with Barry, Bob and Gerry. With all the Russians, Austrians and now some Prussians I can see us giving those frightful frogs a good kicking. Leipzig anyone?

Yes GUNTER the bases are from Warbases. I find it strange the number of times I've seen people using these bases yet don't even bother painting or flocking them.

More reserves from the reserves. This unit is the 2nd battalion from the 12th Reserve Infantry Regiment and was formed from the 4th reserve battalion from the Lieb Regiment. The 12th R.I. Reg was eventually listed in with the line regiments as No.24 the 4th Brandenburg Regiment.

Because these were a reserve regiment and they all had difficulty with uniform and equipment supply I decided to use a variety of greys on the greatcoats, modified some of the backpacks and painted them, the knapsacks and musket slings a variety of colours. All figures are by Perry Miniatures and the flag is from Warflags. Next in the painting list are some Silesian Landwehr.

Thanks GUNTER!
It also helps if you feel inspired and like the figures you're having to paint plus I've probably got a couple of years of frustration to get out of my system.
