Prussian Army WSS

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

Prussian Army WSS

Post by balduris » Fri Aug 05, 2016 8:32 pm

Hi, I am new in this forum and I want to introduce myself with a view shots of my first battalion of the Prussian army: the Füsilier Garde.
I am very open to constructive criticism because I am new in this period. Please leave some hints at how I can make things better.
Please excuse my bad english.
Greetings
Bernhard

Very nice indeed, interesting having different coats for command in first unit. I know nothing abut the Prussians in this period, was that common?

Pre 1700 officiers prefered red for their coats. Later they changed colour maybe because they have found out that it was more healthy for them.
Knötel described the Prussian fusilier lifeguard 1708 in a plate. As you can see in the background an officer and even a NCO still wear their old red coat. Because of their elite status of the "Füsilier-Leibgarde" I decided to paint the coats of the command figures red.

Very nice, progressing nicely. And you can use these in the great northern war too!

Very nice work of an army that doesn't appear much on wargames tables despite how often they fought.
