Interestingly Truls' word in question has, in Scotland a versatility I have not encountered elsewhere.
It is often used as a kind of punctuation particularly in the West and South west. It can appear in a single sentence as many as six or seven times!
It is definitely used as an insult.
It is also used as a compliment ie .. " See him over there, he's a good c**t" - this is a real endorsement.
It is used as an adjective with the addition of 'y' or 'ing' tagged on at the end ie " I can't change the c**ting flat tyre!"
Rarely if ever, is it used in the s e x u a l sense and almost never, in my experience, associated with females. It is always directed towards men.
Yup, we are very strange but as a nation have elevated 'cussing' to such a level it's into space
