Cavalry reinforcing a melee

Post by J Anderson » Mon Sep 01, 2008 1:09 pm

Hi Barry

I was reading an old thread in which you briefly described cavalry reinforcing a melee. We nearly had a scenario like that last night but in the end it didn`t happen. So a cavalry squadron from a totally different regiment may move up and touch a friendly squadrons rear who`s in melee, and reinforce it on it`s second round of melee not the first as that would be an all or nothing which only units of the same regiment could do. The reinforcing unit would then only kill on sixes. If thats correct my only questions are
1) what order do you give the reinforcing unit (move ? ).
2) How many figures could the reinforcing unit fight with.
3) will it rout or pursue with the unit it reinforced.

Cheers

Jim.

Hi Jim,

not quite..

Any cavalry from any regiment can reinforce and existing melee BUT it must be done as a CHARGE declaration.
If they pass they join the melee

ALL FIGHT
ALL KILL ONLY ON 6s

They are assumed to be feeding into an already massed group of horsemen swirling around in combat. The reason for the 6 KILL is that if a full blown galloping charge went in thy may kill some of their own men already in combat with the enemy.

Hope this clarifies :D
