Pursuing through narrow gaps

Post by Churchill » Mon Sep 08, 2008 1:36 pm

Hello Barry,

A question about pursing through narrow gaps.My poor old Kirke's Lamb's were in melee with first a single jacobite squadron of cavalry who they lost to in the melee, but managed to pass their morale test and continued fighting.
In the second round another Jacobite squadron was charged in to reinforce the first squadron.
Q1 on p20 it says that there must be a opening to engage at least one fresh stand if an extra unit joins.Doe's this only apply to infantry? and for cavalry do they only have to move into contact with the squadron ahead to reinforce the melee.
On the second round of melee Kirke's boy's broke and routed over a bridge only one base wide.
Q2 as the cavalry squadrons charged and fought in line are they all intermingled with the routing infantry and so allowed to pursue through narrow gap's.

Ray.

Ray,

no restrictions on cavalry reinforcing a melee, they will plough into the back of the already engaged squadrons and need not physically contact the enemy. Infantry WOULD have to contact the enemy if reinforcing.

In pursuit It would be almost impossible (I think actually impossible) for infantry routing at 8 inches to get away from horse pursuing at 8 inches + D10 inches. A pursuit is not an orderely activity so the pursuers could contract in order to stay in touch with their rightful prey!

The Lambs are toast Ray!
