WSS/BLB?

Post by PrinceEdward » Fri Sep 11, 2009 11:50 pm

Are there any modifications to the game for use in the WSS? I got the rules just yesterday and see the biggest difference is no pikes. Does this effect melee outcomes much? Thanks.

Welcome Prince Edward 8) ;There are other important modifications which you will notice when you become more familiar.

The Allied cavalry have superior combat and morale capability in the later period reflecting the ascendency of th Dutch and British during the 18th century.
Enjoy having a flick through...

Pikes could still legitimately be used even in the early years of WSS by some armies.

Thanks. Yes, I have read through and am now gazing at the charts.

If I am looking at it right later armies sacrifice saves (no pikes) and hope to repulse by fire (add musket bonus). Allies appear to get a lot better too.

I haven't bought my armies yet, but I have a good start with some foundry/dixon stuff I've had for awhile. I am torn between adding to that for the Scanian War period or starting fresh with FR's WSS, which are very tempting. I am not familiar much with the period, so I am taking my time deciding.
