Yes Reiver will retail. Talking with them now. RRP not sure yet, all contingent on the production costs which we are awaiting now. The big question is the hardback issue. Clarence and I are nervous about hardback for one reason only:

We don't want the 'coming apart at the seams' problem which has beset several publications before such as Lasalle, Black Powder(to an extent I belieive but mine is ok, maybe because I don't open it much!) and even some soft copy stuff from FoW. We have not had that problem with R2E and to my knowledge, no feedback on BLB1. If we go for a compromise with most of the print run done in soft and a limited edition in hard the costs could go through the roof. I know the HARD COVER lobby have been very busy

(right Jim!) but I am unsure what the general market view is of hard v soft cover. Is it really a major issue?

Thoughts would be appreciated....

As for availability David... once I'm happy with the quotes the production time is pretty short.. a week to 10 days perhaps. I think Falkirk is a fair target. Wordtwister will take preorders the minute I have seen the printing proofs although I am currently on duty tour in the ME (again and yes, Beirut WAS interesting

) and not due back to Scotland until April 20..

A lot can be done via the web right enough as you all know!

I spiral bound all my rules that will get used a lot. This avoids the coming apart at the seems phenom. I don't own BP and probably wont so the only other rules set I have in hard back is Flames of War. I have index tabbed all the important stuff but they don't get used much. I'm against hardback for BLB2 but its not my call. Either way I will still get them as I have put a lot of effort into them as well, play test and proof reading. I'll just have to memorize them.

Barry,

I don't know if you remember, but I was one of the the first to buy a copy of BLB1 and along with R2E couldn't wait to get my hands on them.
Both soft copies seem to have lasted well and both the rules themselves and the quick playsheets are still in good condition.
The only hardback rules I own are FOG which I've never played and are as new and Rules of Engagement and the Bagration Supplement for my 28mm W.W.II Russians.
To keep costs down I'd prefer the soft option.

Barry,

You already know my preference so why don't you poll it? I will obviously buy a copy whether it's hard or soft and I believe all the other regulars will too so the question is not so much what we want but what the perceptions are of what will sell best out there in the big bad world.

I'm not saying that you abide by the result of the poll but, the more information you have, the better the decision.

OK Folks some news.

Book will be soft cover due to costs. It would have cost us MORE to print 250 hardback than 1000 soft back.

Our solution is as follows: Clarence is exploring PoD options whereby we may get a very limited run done of Hardback. Thiese will have to be ordered specially and we have no idea what the price will be. We are going to pilot it with a few copies for ourselves and if it looks OK we'll work out a commerical option and these can be specially ordered with a little longer lead time.

Best compriomise we can get I think
