Questions on dismounted dragoons

Post by Marechal de France » Sun Mar 27, 2011 12:51 pm

Some questions arose lately, when I finally had some dismounted dragoons finished and got them into battle.

1. Do dismounted dragoons receive the +1 for firing unit all musket?
(I think not, as they actually had musketoons...)

2. Do dismounted dragoons test morale as if infantry?

Monsieur le Maréchal,

I would say yes and yes in that the former is a reference to not being pike armed and the latter would mean that if they were fighting on foot, they would react as foot and should be treated as foot.

Regards.

Hi Jim (& others),

I've been thinking again about the firing ability of dismounted dragoons and in some way judging them as brittle troops in BLB, even when dismounted, I just can't think of them to receive the +1 DRM bonus for firing with 'all musket'.
The numbers of actual dismounted dragoons would never equate to the same number of infantrymen on similar bases, so their fire should be weaker. As indeed they didn't carry muskets but carbines, or the sorts alike.
