Summer hols almost over. Going in to work today. 
2 questions for you all this time:
1. The +1d3 for guards or elite and the -1d3 for raw troops in close contact and shooting. Do you roll this once only and keep note of it for throughout the game? Do you roll once per turn? Or do you roll for each bound of close combat and risk very different results each time?
2. A horse unit rolls to charge and fails, resulting in a compulsory retire 1 turn. What direction do they face as they go? If away from the enemy, can they change facing for free next turn as part of their FORM order, or will it take another turn?
