We just finished a Republic to Empire Peninsular Weekender with a twist...
For the first 3 hours of Day1 we played starter scenarios using The March of Eagles including the new draft cavalry rules.

The scenarios:

1. Take the high ground (Featuring a brigade of 'Green' Neapolitans facing a brigade of 'Green' Spaniards.

2. Capture the Arsenal (Featuring a brigade of 'Veteran French' against a mixed brigade of Portuguese

3. Running the Gauntlet (Featuring a very rag tag French column trying to get from one diagonal corner of a 6 feet wide table to the other whilst being hampered by cavalry, guerillas, Royal Marines, Riflemen and Spanish recruits)

We also used the 'card system' which I have developed as a universal addition to any rule set. That seemed to go down well.

The general conclusion was that this was a very good entre into a gaming weekend, got people comfortable with each other and the cards made it a good laugh.

I have not spoken with Victrix since before Christmas, I hope to talk with Julian soon. My hands are - a little with this, I own the rights to the rules but had not budgeted to publish myself as there are several projects higher up the list from my side. If Victrix push on I am ready!

In several ways Edward:

TMoE is meant for brigade sized games 3-6 units.
It was specifically designed with entry level players (Dads & Sons) in mind
Average game time 90 minutes
Typical table size 6 x 4
Character play
Very decisive play mechanisms (heavy casualties)
Original version about 3-4 pages of A4

That'll do for starters..

oh and it was FREE!
