OK,

managed to find an hour today to convert an old redoubt I built 16 years ago and never finished into the Shevardino (or a passable version of it).

Pics soon

2 x 12pdrs. Accounts say there were two or three guns in the Shevardino which is one or two models. I'll take pics later. I am not exaggerating on the conversion from a previous scrathcbuild.
While I was at it I used offcuts from other redoubts(I had built but never completed 4 redoubts for GNW games about 16 years ago) had them in a box and just knew( in a wargames sort of way )that they would come in handy at some point!!!

It means the guns I am getting ready will be mounted on permanent fortification bases with two loose to place in the redoubt with some crew.

We can use two full Russian batteries at Claymore!

Productive weekender so far:

1 redoubt
4 gun emplacements

All constructed and undercoated.

Shevardino village.... half finished... a new use for parts of La Half Sainte!

Bob, we are putting on the battle for the Shevardino redoubt, this was fought two days before and about two miles away from Borodino. The display will be covering the initial attack by Compan's Division against Neverosky's Division. We will be gaming the extension of the battle at the August game which will involve the rest of Davout's huge Corps supported by the 1st Cavalry Corps and possibly Poniatowski's Polish Corps.

Cheers

It's shaping up well Bob. You will be playing in an extended version of this game in August!

Barry, do you need any of my Russians for the Claymore game or just for the Borodino weekend?

Hello Peter,

as the Claymore table is much smaller (8 x 6) we'll only use a little of your Russian Cavlary for that. I think I'd need to collect the whole lot at Claymore though as that is the only time we'll meet before August 21 barring me driving up to Stonehaven.

Is that OK with you? I will select from your extensive list and revert! 8)

The redoubt is looking good!

Finished my 5th unit which is the 3rd battalion of the 18th Jagers and just started the 6th unit which is the 1st battalion of the Ekaterinabourg regiment. Looking forward to seeing it all out at Claymore.

Cheers
Dave
