Great stuff! entries starting to shape up! With another 2 months to run I hope to see lots more. Multiple entries are also OK.

Keep it coming!

Here is my second entry and an updated pic of Brandenburg with a base of 6 pike men not that you can hardly see them!.

John Hanmer's Regiment, circa 1690

As I said on the uniform thread, I decided to go for the orange-tawny interpretation of the uniform colour suggested on the regiment museum website as opposed to the red tawny that Lawson mentioned.
I also did the drummer in reverse facings and gave the office red cuffs as per something suggested by Walton.

I am not all that happy with the flags, the colours looked a little washed out to start with compared to my Brandenburg flags but then purity seal frosted them! So i had to repair with a little gloss varnish. I don't even use purity seal for any other varnishing so it only had the one chance to mess things up for me. Anyhow the flags will do for now. I might change them in the future so not too worried about them and obviously will check out the flag range coming out here.

As was the case with my Brandenburg unit I will be adding pikes at some point soon but wanted to take a pic while the light was good.

Here is an updated Brandenburg regiment photo

EDIT: fixed it a litle

I might do a new back photo as well.

EDIT: added back photo

As you can see I am experimenting with the backgrounds and the like too

Thanks Barry, trying to decide if i should make a push to do another unit or not before the end date.

I was thinking Nassau-Saarbrucken but have no flags (nor even a colour printer atm)

I updated the Brandenburg pic again and added new back pic.

Guys,

just a few more weeks before we get to the judging stage. I know that several of you are still working on units. I really don;t want to rush it so if anyone needs just a little more time then no problem. Officially its 31 December but we are all friends here and I am happy to run over a little on time..

When we get near I will set up an 'entry form' and put it in the WARCHEST as a pdf for downloading. Multiple entries can go on the same form.
I strongly recommend, to give yourself the very best chance that you take as good pix as you can manage. Try and avoid flash, try and take them in daylight (not direct sunlight) if you don;t have adequate artifical light source. Use your timer and a mini tripod if light is poor.Try and take a front and back shot. If you want to send the photos directly to me I will post them in a special Gallery section in the main Augsburg Gallery where they can live!
Stuff I have sen so far is really nice but I know there is other stuff out there (cos you've told me and I have seen some of it!!!!) Nothing to lose lads and everything to win.. stick something in and see hat the judges think.

Good luck

B

Guys,

I have had several more requests to extend the competition closing date because people are trying to get units finished. The advantage to competitors if I do that:

1. more entiry possibilities if you want multiple entry
2. The prizes can be drawn from new codes which will come in January

I think we may let it slip to end Jan and close off then... but HURRY UP!!!!!

I am expecting great things from the people needing 4-5 months to paint their 18-25 miniatures ;)

I should be able to get in another couple of entries. I might have missed the end of the December deadline for my third entry though with moving house (no permanent painting station yet!) and Christmas so that is good.

An unknown Papal States Regiment c.1689 gets a morning blessing before battle. Some of the men appear to be late and are hearing about it from their sergeant.

Your unit looks great Joe, really impressive!

Barry,
I will fill in the form for my two entries. Still a remote possibility of the Inniskilling unit for the third but been spending most of my time painting things like walls and the like since my house move. Still I do have a painting area set up now so should be ready roll again pretty soon :).

I did finish painting the pike men for Sir John Hanmer's unit but figured the pikes might get broken off in the move so didn't glue them the on yet. I doubt I will get around taking updated pictures before the competition date though.

looks like my Inniskilling unit didn't make it, will still be a few minis short by tmw.

Who'd have thought this moving house thing and settling back into another country would take up so much of my time!
