DRAGOON STANDARDS RELEASE - IMMINENT

Post by barr7430 » Fri Aug 24, 2012 9:33 am

Over the weekend we will be relasing the first 18 dragoon standards/guidons.

A mix of Dutch, English, Jacobite and Williamite. They are lovely!

Are you deliberately not doing Luttrell's just to piss me off?
especially as I have just finished some conversions for the command stand for my dismounted regiment. Will bring the lot down to Partizan.

Actually,

a few of the standards are reasonably generic... white, yellow, royal cypher etc. I am sure Colonel Luttrell could use one of those!

Lol - there are only a handful of dragoon standards we know from the Boyne/Aughrim theater. A few of the speculative flags use heraldry from their colonels, but more are generic cyphers or plain fields that could be used for any unknown unit (I DID include O'Brien for you). I simply named them for the purpose of record keeping...

Out of curiosity, I wondered why I left them out. On page 53 of Rebel's Osprey book, there are six regiments of dragoons listed on the order of battle and Luttrell's was not one of them. I work in groups of three for layout purposes - since I'm not trying to include every unit in Ireland, I stopped with these six! Inevitably some get left out... hmmm... that gives me an idea for another thread.

They are in the shop under the relevant category (Grand Alliance, Jacobite, etc) and the thumbnails are also on my blog... :D
