That means plenty of cavalry, plenty of Guard and plenty of Prussians.

The Emperor had health problems

The French had Prussian problems

The Allies had dice problems...


I am sure the comments will begin to appear over the next few days (and then I can act as a balance!)

The Prussians had dice problems in as much as we let David Imrie roll them. That and the fact all the great work my recruits did in turning the French line was undone when said recruits saw some French cavalry and decided to run away without a shot being fired.

Damn good game though, great weekend, great bunch of guys. Can't wait till the next one at Lundin Links.

Cracking weekend as usual. Thanks again to Barry for organising.

As for items of note the Cumbernauld (Cumberland) Hussars actually making combat, even if it was to instantly rout
Wellington survivng 3 rounds of close combat as he was helping the KGL rally.

I recall the KGL as takng some of the heaviest casualties of any formation during the battle:
4 battalions:

1st Light: 72%
2nd Light: 50%
5th Line : 30%
8th Line: 66%
Battery : 33%

More stats:

At least two Prussian infantry units were completely wiped out whilst caught in rout by French Hussars. This was at about 6.45pm battle time north east of Plancenoit when the very last of the last French reserves were thrown into the gaping h-o-l-e ( approximately 550 yards wide) which had previously been held by the French 1st Brigade/19th Infantry Division/VI Corps. A simulataneous charge by elements of the 11th Infantry Regiment, 1st and 2nd Pommeranian Landwehr Regiments (about 4,500 infantry) swept the outnumbered French battalions away in a single stroke. In response, the French countered with 2 charges which rolled the disordered but victorious Prussians back towards the Bois de Paris. It was fleetingly David Imrie's(and perhaps Ian Beal's) greatest wargaming victory... ever

Those sober enough to remember the dinner table conversation about the site's spam filter cannot fail to be amused that I was caught by it above and had to revisit to insert (probably that will go with the filter too!) hyphens in between the characters of H O L E.

Has anyone tried Fud? - oh I just did and it went in! obviously my computer does not speak Gujerati or whatever the sub continent language was that gave Glasgow one of its most descriptive put downs!

Really gutted at missing the weekend especially as the Prussian attack on Plancenoit is one part of the battle that I have only ever fought once many years ago and the umpire in that battle was even more of a Francophile than Barry so there was no way the Prussians were ever going to get in and the French didn't even need to use the Young Guard let alone the two battalions of Old Guard. He had structured the Prussian march so late that even if no French troops were in front of them they would not even have reached the village by 7pm. Needless to say that the French won Waterloo in that refight

It was indeed our greatest victory. The masterful attack on the French line breaking it at just the right moment, only to watch my victorious troops running back. Who could have known their colonel had a phobia of horses since seeing his mother surprised by one during his teenage years, albeit on a dubious Internet video site.
