Hello

I would like to know if anyone can help with ink shades so a few questions

1 best inks for shading?

2 which ink shades are best for Red, Blue, Grey, Yellows and Greens? I know may seem a sillly question but I've never tryed ink shades before and would you paint a shade lighter as the inks darken the base colours e.g. Red coats for English
Blue for Bavarians
Grey for French

Thanks

I always used to use artists inks with a peat brown ink shade in to deaden the colours, recently been using the army painter soft tone for shading faces, hair leather etc and it is very good indeed.

Hi, not yet, to be honest I moved away from inks a few years ago apart from the brown mentioned, I often use it now to disguise where I have not got hair quite right on a figure when dry brushing or in particular for the cow hide knapsacks some armies carry. Windsor and Newton colours damped down with Peat Brown was always my way with inks. I expect these will give you a similar result.

I tend to stick to army painter,
a 50/50 mix of soft and dark tone for skin,
the blue, green and red for those colours,
soft tone works great on yellow

hoe that helps

Just one more question I forgot to ask what ink to use to shade the whites? E.g. Neck scarves, cuffs or stockings
