I just wanted to check something, when a hero character joins a unit does it act in the same way as an officer character?

i.e. the unit uses the hero's ability dice for morale?

No, but a hero character does provide a +1 on morale checks for every unit within 12"...

I must of missed that rule when I read through the book, thanks for the clarification Clarence
