Looking for help with details on the 95th rifles.

Post by big-gazza » Thu May 07, 2009 8:39 pm

Hi,
nearly finished batch of 95th rifles and I have a few details I need help with.

1. Some of the figures look to have a scarf rounf their neck. Was this uniform or an individual thing? Just wanting to know what colour to use.

2. What colour was the buttons on the bread bag?

3. Did everyone have the black cuffs? Some of the figures has it cast on but some have straight arms with buttons only.

Any help would be great.

thanks

The 'neckie' could be any colour - probably individual item. A contrast to the dark uniform works well.. red? light blue? white? spotted?

Bread bag button - would have to check but could be canvas covered so same colour as back itself

Cuffs - usually black but some of the men may have worn plain green jackets or even brown jackets fashioned from local cloth and not even in uniform pattern. The British army in the Peninsula was a rag tag bunch of veterans who would wear anything they could get their hands on including local clothes and French stuff!

Forget Sharpe and the South Essex, think more along the lines of Albert Steptoe 8)
