Hi Clarence,
Looking at both prints for the cover of the up and coming R2E rules I for one prefer the original print of the Spanish church in the background.
Regards........Ray.

Did quite a bit of work on the main horse this weekend - not finished yet, but it's shaping up. I am working back and forth between the cover painting, interior illos, finishing some minis for inclusion in the photographs, and the book itself!

Getting closer and the title graphic is finished now... still need to work on the lancer, the cannon, and some of the other foreground elements. There needs to be some work to unify the foreground and background since right now the main figure looks pasted on the background (as he indeed is).
Probably the last WIP in shot until I am ready to reveal the finished cover.

Clarence,
"the knot looked cool"
Yes, better to be cool than historical correct

Or maybe our lancer spent some francs getting some upgraded trousers... hardly would be the first time a French soldier deviated from the regulations.
Call it artistic license if you will... while it may not follow the authorized uniform 100%, the knotwork adds to the 'overall' look of the cover.

@ Yermolov,
Was the church not changed due to the fact that no Chevau-Léger were ever in the Peninsula campagnes?
So going by your reasoning, why change the church? call it artistic licence
Who`s to say that a Chevau-Léger Regt didn`t get lost on their way to the shops & ended up in Benidorm? (wouldn`t be the first time a French Régt deviated from the regulations)
Now that would be cool

I had no issues with the lancer in Spain either for that matter. If Clarence sees fit to change it, then that's his prerogative, and if he decides not to, then so be it. It's artwork, not a PhD thesis.

Non per niente, but the wife likes the Spanish church better.
