Welcome to the Forum!! :D

They are based not for any particular set of rules but rather in 'companies' or 'half companies'. I have my own set of Napoleonic Rules and I decided when I was constructing the 15mm collection of Naps that I'd use a 1:10 figure to man ratio giving large battalions. The number of figures on a base reflects the number of companies. Doesn't always work out exactly but it looks nice.
The bases are constructed on the principle of 8mm frontage per figure. Depth not important... I like to protect the figures from damage and do scenics so in this cas I think it is a 40mm square base.

hope this helps :D
